What Documents Are Acceptable to Verify I-9 Form?

USCIS recognizes three categories of documentation provided by the newly hired individuals for the purpose of identification. The categories are:

List A Document

An employee that provides one of the documents in the List A does not need to provide other documents in other categories, because they can establish both the employee’s identity and their work authorization.

List B Document

The employee who doesn’t provide documents in the List A category should provide documents in List B with the purpose to verify their identity.

List C Document

As a companion to the provided document in List B, an employee who doesn’t provide List A document should present a document in the List C category with the purpose to verify their employment authorization.
